Small World Café: Fitore Misini

International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) alumna Fitore MISINI was our honored guest at a Small World Café focused on Kosovo.  MISINI is a program assistant at the American Corner of the National Library Kosova and came to Pensacola in April 2019 on an IVLP focused on civic engagement for high schoolers. That in-person project was arranged nationally by the Meridian International Center.

The café began with a virtual tour of the American Corner, complete with a slideshow and a description of how the library has changed over the years. After the tour, the participants discussed several topics, including civic engagement of young people, the effect COVID-19 has had on her work and country, and how libraries are an important resource.

While on the call, MISINI reconnected with her Pensacola home hospitality hosts and with one of the program officers she met while on the program. At the end of the gathering, one participant expressed the feeling of many: “Thank you. This was a great way to keep citizen diplomacy going and to stay connected to IVLP alumni. It’s a great model for other councils around the country.” To which we have to say you’re welcome & thank YOU for helping our office keep the connections going.
