Small World Café: Þuríður H. Aradóttir BRAUN

Now is the time to think about post-pandemic travel. To help inspire the planning, Þuríður H. Aradóttir BRAUN of Iceland joined the Small World Café.

BRAUN visited Northwest Florida in 2009 on a U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) focused on parks, biodiversity, and ecotourism management along with colleagues from Israel, Kenya, Nepal, and Zimbabwe. Their national program was arranged by the Meridian International Center and their local program was arranged by Gulf Coast Diplomacy.

During the online meeting, BRAUN shared the breathtaking beauty of Iceland through a slideshow which included images of natural parks. She also discussed virtual tourism in the time of COVID, and how in-person tourism affects both the economy and the environment. This led to a discussion on how she and other environmentalists work to balance maintaining the landscape with educational outreach and the impact of visitors.

Her visuals were stunning and inspirational. We thank her for spending time at the Small World Café.
