As a program assistant with Escambia County 4-H Youth Development, Jereme Johnson helps shape young leaders through hands-on learning and community engagement. A dedicated partner of Gulf Coast Diplomacy, Johnson regularly hosts international visitors eager to learn from 4-H’s positive youth development model.
To make visits meaningful, Johnson and his team design interactive experiences where guests engage directly with youth and volunteers. These exchanges foster cultural understanding and often spark lasting connections—some visitors have even adapted 4-H programming ideas in their home countries, with Johnson providing ongoing support.
The impact goes both ways. Local youth become more globally aware and curious, forming friendships and sharing cultural traditions, like a viral dance exchange with Brazilian students. Staff also benefit from using global insights to address new local challenges and expand their programs.
