In honor of our former colleague Ashley Hardaway Theriot, Gulf Coast Diplomacy, with the support of her family and friends, has established an endowed study abroad scholarship at the University of West Florida.
Ashley was generous even in death, giving the gift of life through six successful organ transplants. This scholarship honors her curiosity, commitment to service, and lifelong interest in learning about the world. Ashley valued education, cultural exchange, and the opportunities that come from experiencing different places and perspectives.
The scholarship supports University of West Florida students who participate in approved study abroad programs through the university. Study abroad experiences offer students the opportunity to learn in new academic and cultural contexts while developing skills such as adaptability, communication, and problem-solving.
Ashley believed in the importance of people-to-people connections and appreciated opportunities to learn from others. Her legacy continues through students who expand their understanding of the world through educational exchange.
