Our Mission

Our Guiding Principle

Citizen diplomacy recognizes the value of person-to-person exchange and the role that individuals and communities play in fostering dialogue, mutual understanding, and respect across cultures.

Our Mission

Gulf Coast Diplomacy is a non-partisan, nonprofit organization facilitating and strengthening connections, collaboration, and fellowship between the people of the Gulf Coast and the world.

Program Pillars

Gulf Coast Diplomacy is a member of the Global Ties U.S. national network and advances its mission through the following program pillars:

    • International Exchange and Citizen Diplomacy: Gulf Coast Diplomacy facilitates structured opportunities for dialogue and professional exchange between international visitors and members of the Northwest Florida community. Much of this work takes place through the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and other exchange initiatives, with programming designed to support learning, discussion, and professional engagement.
    • Education: Gulf Coast Diplomacy offers educational programming for youth and adults that encourages exploration of global topics through discussion, facilitated learning, and community engagement. These programs include public forums such as Great Decisions and youth-focused initiatives like Youth Diplomats, all designed to support learning and perspective-sharing in a nonpartisan setting.
    • Hospitality: Gulf Coast Diplomacy works with local partners and residents to welcome international visitors and provide opportunities for cultural exchange through approved hospitality activities. These efforts introduce visitors to everyday life in Northwest Florida and support meaningful community interaction.

Community Impact and Benefit

Through international exchange and community-based programming, Gulf Coast Diplomacy creates opportunities for dialogue, learning, and cultural understanding. Our activities:

    • Are flexible tools to support U.S. foreign policy and national security goals;
    • Contribute to the economic health of the cultural and hospitality economy of the Gulf Coast;
    • Provide learning opportunities for both youth and adults;
    • Encourage cultural awareness;
    • Support educational exchange and professional dialogue; and
    • Increase trust, respect, and understanding between our community and people from throughout the world.
