At Gulf Coast Diplomacy, our Youth Diplomats aren’t just learning about the world—they’re engaging with it. Thanks to the power of virtual meetings, our teens are connecting face-to-face with peers and professionals from across the globe, developing real-world skills and having a blast along the way.
In a recent session, our Youth Diplomats spent an hour in lively conversation with teenagers in Dakhla, Morocco. From discussing daily life to sharing aspirations, the group found common ground and created meaningful international friendships—all from their own living rooms.
Later, the group had the exciting opportunity to interview Mr. Stefan Popescu, a Romanian foreign affairs analyst and respected voice on global issues. Popescu’s impressive career spans media commentary and diplomacy, including his work with Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and his current role with the Group for Social Dialogue, an NGO dedicated to democracy and human rights. A proud IVLP alumnus, he recently participated in the 2024 exchange commemorating NATO’s 75th anniversary.
These conversations are more than educational—they’re empowering. Youth Diplomats are sharpening communication skills, practicing intercultural awareness, and gaining insights that shape future careers. For teens in a small community like ours, this kind of access is game-changing.
Best of all? It’s fun. Whether laughing with new friends across time zones or asking a real diplomat how to launch a career in foreign affairs, every session brings new energy, curiosity, and confidence.
With just a screen and an open mind, our Youth Diplomats are proving that global leadership starts right here at home.

Mr. Stefan POPESCU of Romania met with the Youth Diplomats to answer their questions.
