In August, we held our monthly youth diplomats meeting. We had a big house of more than 40 participants! We were joined by some Russian teens.
We started our meeting with our tradition of playing Kahoot. This is a great way to enhance our knowledge more on current global events and keep us up to date with them.
Afterward, we met with our Russian visitors. We played a virtual scavenger hunt, where we got to know each other a lot more by sharing bits of our culture, family traditions, friendships, and much more. We shared the backstory of our names, and this helped us get to know each other’s cultures and family heritage. We started to become more familiar with the new faces through these different games, and we are now very excited for our next meeting with them.
In the second part of the meeting, we had a speaker from Pakistan join us, Mr. Kashif Ali Shaikh of Transparency International Pakistan, an alumnus with the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program. We learned more about his country through a very interesting presentation which showed us the perspective from Pakistan.
We learned more facts about the country and its political and administrative structure. We saw beautiful archaeological treasures, historic buildings, and monuments. The day we held our meeting, it was Pakistan’s 75th anniversary of independence which made this meeting special!
To end our time with Mr. Kashif, the youth diplomats had the opportunity to ask him more about his diligent work, his projects, and his challenges. It was an engaging discussion where we broadened and enriched our horizons with new perspectives and knowledge.
The Youth Diplomats program has given us a fantastic opportunity to broaden our horizons, meet new people from all around the world and create long-lasting friendships with them!
