Do you like exploring new things and discovering information? If so, it’s time to have some fun with Gulf Coast Diplomacy and IYLEP!
IYLEP is sponsored and funded by the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. The U.S. Department of State has provided leadership and educational opportunities to thousands of Iraqi youth since 2007.
We have three ways for you to get involved:
OPTION ONE: Ten U.S. teens will be awarded full scholarships to attend activities from July 20 – August 11, 2024, with the Iraqi participants at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, in Pensacola, and at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. To learn more and apply, click through this link.
OPTION TWO: High school-aged host siblings and a select group in our Youth Diplomats program will be invited to participate in the Pensacola-based exchange portion during the weekdays July 26 – August 7, 2024. If you are a Youth Diplomat and interested in joining us or if you are interested in joining Youth Diplomats, let us know of your interest in IYLEP on your 2024 application.
OPTION THREE: We are looking for 15 families in Escambia & Santa Rosa Counties to join us for a host family adventure July 26 – August 7, 2024. This summer, we will work on leadership activities with one Iraqi mentor and several Iraqi students, ages 15 – 18. Host families will help provide the needed cultural component for the program’s success. Host siblings ages 15 – 18 are encouraged to apply for Options One and Two above. The host families’ commitment is to attend an online orientation before the start of the project and to provide a safe, welcoming environment during the 12 days of the program. Please see our host family application for a complete list of hosting responsibilities.
There is no charge to apply or participate in this program.
