The Gulf Coast Citizen Diplomacy Council recently celebrated its tenth anniversary. More than 100 members & supporters came together to mark the occasion along with 19 International Visitor Leadership Program participants from 19 various countries.
Celebrants stuffed a memory box full of their perceptions of citizen diplomacy. These are too joyful to keep to ourselves!
My favorite thing about citizen diplomacy in the last ten years:
There are a couple of events I can think of — coffee with delegates, presenting to delegates, engaging conversations and viewpoint sharing.
Are the everlasting connections I have made!
Coffee & conversation with my international friends!
The opportunity to get to work with so many engaged citizens from all over the world!
Being a part of the one “handshake at a time” diplomacy, an effort made possible by hosting many visitors in our home for dinners & discussion
Meeting and connecting with people from around the world and
learning firsthand about their countries
The diversity of cultures, stories, and dreams that are shared
each time you meet new people
The joy of inviting others to join and learn about citizen diplomacy
Is watching the organization flex and grow into the dynamic organization it is!
Planting seeds of compassion one friend at a time.
In the six years Jena and her staff have given me the honor of servicing their transportation needs under the direction of Dreamcatcher shuttle service.
I have enjoyed the socialization of both her staff and guests to the city area and am looking forward to continued service.
