In mid May, we welcomed a group of three visitors from Indonesia as a part of the International Visitor Leadership Program looking at wildlife conservation.
Their professional meeting began with a visit to Pensacola City Hall where Councilman Charles Bare welcomed them. Next, the visitors traveled to the I-10 inspection station and met with Lieutenant Mark Burke of the Florida Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement.
After lunch in downtown Pensacola, the Indonesian group met with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission Law Enforcement Division to address Florida’s efforts to protect wildlife resources. This was complimented with a community coffee discussion with local environmentalists, a site visit to the Port of Pensacola where Frank Lenox discussed customs procedures, and a meeting and site visit via canoe with Ranger Darryl Hatfield at Blackwater State Park.
Over the weekend, Paula Drummond and Joe Hemmer welcomed the three into their home for dinner and informal conversation.
The Gulf Coast Citizen Diplomacy Council thanks everyone who volunteered their time advancing the cause of citizen diplomacy.
